These Sport Tourism programs connect communities with sport event hosting opportunities and aim to make BC a premier sport event destination.

2010 Legacies Now is committed to building BC's reputation as a premier sport event destination. Together with Tourism BC and the Province of BC, through the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts, we work with communities to attract and host national and international-level athletes, teams and sport events. Our vision for BC includes:

• Economic Development: increased economic development to host communities and the province

• Sport System Development: hosting events can lead to increased capacity within BC’s sport system

• Social and Community Development: host communities can benefit from trained volunteers, increased community pride and improving facility infrastructure are a few ways sport hosting

Sport Tourism Community Workshops show how the sport and tourism industries can work together to ensure sport events are a success for the entire community.

2010 Legacies Now, the Province of BC and numerous tourism partners are working to increase accessible tourism in BC and help to make the province a premier travel destination for people with disabilities. 

The BC Sport Event Hosting and Resort Guide promotes sport event hosting through an online searchable database allowing visitors to find locations and venues to meet their sport event and training needs.

The BC Sport Tourism Events Marketplace is an annual one-day conference bringing the tourism and sport industries together to network, develop partnerships and explore new sport event hosting opportunities.

The BC Sport Tourism Network is made up of more than 90 members in over 40 communities across BC who share information, ideas, and best practices in the area of sport tourism.

The BC Sport Tourism Community Legacy Award recognizes a BC community who has demonstrated the beneficial partnership between sport and tourism over the past three years.
