AccessWORKS
Creating opportunities for people with disabilities
Leading up to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, 2010 Legacies Now supported AccessWORKS. AccessWORKS connects people with disabilities to jobs, economic partnerships and volunteer positions that were created as a result of the 2010 Winter Games.
Ensuring everyone shares in the benefits of the 2010 Games
AccessWORKS was created by a group of disability-focused organizations to ensure people with disabilities benefit fully from economic opportunities leading up to, and after, the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. 2010 Legacies Now and the Province of B.C. supported AccessWORKS prior to Games time.
Projects developed by accessWORKS include:
Purposeful Purchasing
Purposeful Purchasing encourages organizations to purchase goods and services from suppliers who advance the economic inclusion of people with disabilities. Social service organizations in Canada spend over $3.6 billion annually; it makes sense for them to position themselves as consumers, with a mission. To learn more about Purposeful Purchasing, visit United Community Services Co-op online.
familyWORKs
FamilyWORKs is about families helping families to recognize the important role they can play in building an economy in BC which is strengthened by the inclusion of people with disabilities. FamilyWORKs helps families create economic inclusion plans and partner with members of the economic community. Visit familyWORKs online to find out more.
Social Enterprise Marketing Initiative
The Social Enterprise Marketing Initiative helps to connect social enterprise suppliers with corporate purchasers. In partnership with Enterprising Non-profits (enp), accessWORKS provides brokering services and assists social enterprise suppliers with the promotion and marketing of their products and services. BC Employers' Forum on Disability
The BC Employers’ Forum on Disability enables companies to become confident in their ability to interact with employees, customers, stakeholders and partners with disabilities.
