Brenda Le Clair
Managing Director, Strategic Development and Partnerships
Along with her position as the managing director of Development and Partnerships, Brenda is also executive director of Literacy Now, an initiative strengthening new and existing community strategies to support literacy needs in BC.
Prior to joining 2010 Legacies Now, Brenda was the deputy superintendent with the Langley School Board. During her 25-year career in public education, Brenda also served as a teacher, counselor, district administrator, and acting superintendent in Langley.
For the Community
Brenda provides leadership to numerous organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Focus Foundation of BC, steering committee for the School Leadership Centre, advisory committee for the Provincial Early Learning Project, beneficiary committee for the Vancouver Sun’s Raise-A-Reader campaign, and the Ministry of Education Working Committee for the Parent Involvement Project.
Background
Over the years, Brenda has represented education on regional and provincial inter-ministerial initiatives. She has contributed to writing the Healthy Living component for the BC Learning for Living Curriculum and wrote curriculum in Guidance from kindergarten to grade 12, Parent Involvement, Counseling and English Language Training. Brenda also helped initiate and support numerous local, provincial, and national literacy programs.
Brenda graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences and a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology. She also holds a current BC Teacher Certification.
