Vancouver, B.C. (November 19, 2007): Premier Gordon Campbell and Vancouver Canucks alumnus Cliff Ronning joined young hockey players today at GM Place to launch the sixth annual Spirit of 2010 Hockey Tournament.
The Spirit of 2010 Hockey Tournament is a British Columbia hockey tradition and the largest tournament of its kind in Canada. Across the province, more than 43,000 players will gear up this season to celebrate amateur hockey and the spirit of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
Existing tournaments across British Columbia are invited to register at www.2010LegaciesNow.com to become part of the excitement. Registration is free and tournaments will receive a Spirit of 2010 trophy, arena banner and limited edition jersey. Each participating player will also receive a commemorative Spirit of 2010 puck and poster.
Premier Campbell unveiled the new look for the 2008 tournament with a fresh design for the Spirit of 2010 souvenir pucks, trophies and jerseys which are styled after the new Vancouver Canucks jerseys.
The Spirit of 2010 Hockey Tournament is presented by the Province of British Columbia, 2010 Legacies Now, BC Hockey, and the Vancouver Canucks.
