Program description:
This program provides assistance to arts and cultural organizations to implement strategic initiatives that enhance long term self-sufficiency. Specific projects may involve accessing a new market, implementing recommendations of organizational review or planning process, or developing new revenue sources.

Program eligibility:
Eligible organizations include non-profit arts and cultural organizations whose principal activity is the production, distribution or promotion of cultural products or services. Organizations must have previously received assistance under BC Arts Council programs. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Special Project Organizational Development

Program description:
Assistance is available to help arts and cultural organizations currently receiving annual assistance from the British Columbia Arts Council to engage professional expertise to identify and/or address urgent and specific management issues.

Program eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must: currently be receiving assistance through the British Columbia Arts Council; be registered as a non-profit society in the Province of British Columbia; have completed at least one full year of operation. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Community Heritage Planning Programs (Strategic Planning Program)

Program description:
Community Heritage Planning Programs (Strategic Planning Program) supports the preparation of a five to ten year strategy within which to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a community heritage program. The plan, based on a proactive participatory process, must be practical, easily understood and publicly acceptable. It presents the community consensus reached about heritage conservation priorities.

Program: Community Heritage Planning Programs (Implementation Planning Program)

Program description:
Community Heritage Planning Programs (Implementation Planning Program) supports the preparation of detailed plans to achieve priorities identified in a strategic plan. An implementation plan provides detailed guidance on how selected elements of the heritage strategy will be achieved.

Program: Community Heritage Planning Programs (Conservation and Feasibility Planning Program)

Program description:
Community Heritage Planning Programs (Conservation and Feasibility Planning Program) supports the preparation of conservation or feasibility plans for historic places included on an official community heritage register. Such plans must reflect use of the draft Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada.

Program eligibility:
Local governments, First Nations bands, registered non-profit societies, school districts, post-secondary institutions, provincial crown corporations and regional health authorities. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Community Heritage Planning Programs (Community Heritage Registers Program)

Program description:
Community Heritage Planning Programs (Community Heritage Registers Program) supports the development of community heritage registers by local governments, consistent with the documentation standards of the BC Register of Historic Places (BCRHP). Community heritage register records will be included in the BC Register of Historic Places and will be eligible for subsequent nomination to the Canadian Register of Historic Places (CRHP).

Program: The Flying Squad: An Organizational Development Program in Theatre

Program description:
The specific objectives of this program are to: assist professional theatre organizations in targeted organizational development; assist individuals working in theatre company management in developing skills, networks and support systems within the theatre community; assist groupings and associations of non-profit theatre organizations that propose innovative organizational development activities.

Program eligibility:
Eligible applicants must: be Canadian non-profit organizations; be directed by recognized theatre professionals; have received an operating or production project grant from the Canada Council Theatre Section during the past three years. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (Stabilization)

Program description:
The Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program aims to strengthen organizational effectiveness and build capacity of arts and heritage organizations. It is comprised of four program components: Stabilization Projects, Capacity Building, Endowment Incentives, and Networking Initiatives. The Stabilization Projects component helps establish Projects that are run by independent, non-profit organizations governed by representative boards of directors within a specific geographic area. Stabilization Projects, in turn, support arts and heritage organizations in their areas by offering technical expertise. Some also offer assistance to reduce deficits and build working capital reserves.

A not-for-profit organization.

Program: Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (Networking Initiatives)

Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (Networking Initiatives) aims to strengthen organizational effectiveness and build capacity of arts and heritage organizations. It is comprised of four program components: Stabilization Projects, Capacity Building Endowment Incentives, and Networking Initiatives. The Networking Initiatives component supports networking projects of national scope involving municipal cultural workers or stabilization projects across Canada, working to build or improve their capacity in the areas of cultural policies, action plans, sound management practices, and partnerships with the private sector.

Program description:
The Music Entrepreneur Component provides support for established Canadian music entrepreneurs to build a strong, sustainable industry. It enables established entrepreneurs to offer a wide range of choices that enrich the Canadian musical experience in the long term, to become increasingly competitive nationally and internationally and to play a leading role in the global digital economy.

Eligible applicants are Canadian-owned and controlled firms with a proven track record in the development and marketing of Canadian musical talent and whose principal business is the production and marketing of Canadian content sound recordings.

Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program (Capacity Building) aims to strengthen organizational effectiveness and build capacity of arts and heritage organizations. It is comprised of four program components: Stabilization Projects, Capacity Building, Endowment Incentives, and Networking Initiatives. The Capacity Building component helps individual arts and heritage organizations that do not have access to assistance from a Stabilization Project to improve their administrative, organizational, and financial structures.

Program eligibility:
Professional not-for-profit arts organizations. National, not-for-profit professional arts service organizations. Professional, not-for-profit, heritage organizations. National or provincial, not-for-profit, professional, heritage service organizations.

Program description:
Canadian Heritage's Canada Music Fund (Support to Sector Associations Program) seeks to strengthen the Canadian sound recording industry from creator to audience." The Fund has three overarching public policy goals. To ensure that Canadian music artists and entrepreneurs have the skills, know-how and tools to succeed in a global and digital environment. To enhance Canadians' access to a diverse range of Canadian music choices through existing and emerging media. To increase the opportunities available for Canadian music artists and cultural entrepreneurs to make a significant and lasting contribution to Canadian cultural expression.

Program eligibility:
Eligible recipients are Canadian not-for-profit sound recording sector associations.

Program: Arts Partners in Organizational Development

Program description:
To assist arts and heritage organizations in BC to achieve long-term organizational sustainability by: strengthening governance and management practices; assessing organizational strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities; increasing planning capacity and building planning into ongoing operations; developing strategies to address identified needs.

Program eligibility:
Funding is available to arts and heritage organizations incorporated as non-profit societies in the province of British Columbia. Organizations must have been in existence for at least two years. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: BC Arts Renaissance Fund - Medici Program (Management, Endowment Development, Implementation, Capacity and Innovation)

Program description:
The intent of the MEDICI program is to support the execution of planning and organizational development initiatives that assist arts and culture organizations with their overall financial capacity. 

Program eligibility:
An application to participate in the program will be accepted from any not-for-profit British Columbia-based arts organization that meets specific criteria.
