Program: Outreach Program: New Audience and Market Development Travel Assistance

Program description:
The purposes of the Outreach Program are to increase and enhance programming options for presenters, programmers and curators of professional Canadian artists, and to assist Canadian professional artists and their managers to develop and reach new audiences and markets in Canada and internationally. This program is divided into three components: Audience and Market Development within Canada, International Marketing and Promotions and Travel Assistance for International Buyers.

Program eligibility:
The Outreach Program provides travel assistance to the following applicants for the eligible projects outlined for each component: professional presenters (such as promoters, programmers and festival artistic directors); curators; artists’ representatives (such as managers, agents, tour directors, distributors, art dealers and gallery directors); artist-run centres, artists’ associations, arts organizations and presenting networks; professional Canadian performing artists officially selected to showcase at a key contact or market event. All Canada Council for the Arts programs are accessible to Aboriginal artists or arts organizations and artists or arts organizations from diverse cultural and regional communities of Canada. Program: Trade Routes

Program description:
To facilitate the international business development needs of Canadian multi-sectoral arts and cultural entrepreneurs. To help Canadian arts and cultural enterprises and non-profit organizations make the most of international business development opportunities through a range of services and support. Services available include a contributions program, support for new market studies and market information, and skilled expert advisers who assist current and potential cultural exporters from International Trade Centres in Canada and key missions abroad.

Program eligibility:
Canadian-owned and controlled, profit or non-profit cultural organizations (corporations and associations) incorporated under the laws of Canada or of a province or territory, and in activity for at least one year. Eligible organizations also include national, provincial, municipal, and community associations and export service providers such as industry associations, businesses, academic institutions, and chambers of commerce. Organization: Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records (FACTOR), The
Program: Radio Marketing Fund

Program description:
The goal of the Radio Marketing Fund is to aid in developing Canadian artists to achieve greater national and international success. Projects will have to show measurable results.

Program eligibility:
Marketing initiatives must be to support Canadian artists. It must be to support currently - released product. For FACTOR's purposes this means released in the eighteen (18) months prior to receiving the application. The applicant must be Canadian. Ownership of the copyright in the master for Canada must be held by a Canadian. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Organization: Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Records (FACTOR), The
Program: Marketing and Promotion for Non-FACTOR Supported Sound Recordings

Program description:
This program was developed to assist with the marketing and promotion of a sound recording. Funding is in the form of a loan and is available for non-FACTOR supported sound recording projects. Eligible expenses are only those for domestic marketing and promotion initiatives.

Program eligibility:
The performer must be a Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant. The applicant must be the artist performer for those projects without FACTOR-recognized distribution. The applicant must own the copyright of the master recording for Canada. The application must be in support of a commercially released, professionally manufactured sound recording containing a bar code and catalogue number. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Marketing and Promotion for FACTOR Supported Sound Recordings

Program description:
This program was developed to provide a stronger financial commitment to each project by offering funding to assist with the marketing and promotion of a FACTOR supported sound recording.

Program eligibility:
The applicant must have received a sound recording loan from FACTOR. Applicants may apply after FACTOR's receipt of the completion paperwork but no later than six months of the release of the sound recording for the initial funding. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Domestic and International Showcase Support

Program description:
The Showcase Support Program's objective is to support Canadian artists at professional, music industry organized showcases with a strong potential for results and to contribute to the development of the Canadian music industry both domestically and internationally.

Program eligibility:
Performer's must be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant. Applicants must be Canadian artists, Canadian-owned or controlled record companies, management companies or music publishers. The showcase must take place within FACTOR's fiscal year. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Domestic and International Business Development

Program description:
The Domestic and International Business Development Program was developed to increase the competitive appeal of Canadian music products domestically and internationally. A strong domestic and international presence is essential to building a healthy Canadian independent recording industry. Funding is available for participation in domestic and international music industry conferences or trade fairs and assistance for domestic and international marketing.

Program eligibility:
The applicant must: be a Canadian-owned and operated record company, management company, music distributor or music publisher; have been in business two years prior to the date of receipt of the application; and be a registered or incorporated company. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Direct Board Approval Program – Marketing and Promotion

Program description:
The Direct Board Approval Marketing and Promotion Program was developed to provide a stronger financial commitment to each project by offering funding to assist with the marketing and promotion of a sound recording.

Program eligibility:
The applicant must be a FACTOR-accredited Direct Board Approval company, with FACTOR recognized national distribution in place at the time of application. Applicants must apply no later than six months after the release of the sound recording for the initial funding. Funding through the Marketing and Promotion Program cannot exceed FACTOR's contribution to the sound recording project. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Program: Label, Manager and Distributor Business Development Support

Program description:
Funding is available for initiatives that will help strengthen the company, including memberships to relevant organizations, development of databases, subscriptions to trade publications, and initiatives that would support the marketing and promotion of the company (not artist specific). Also included would be website development, maintenance, discussion boards, software and hosting fees.

Program eligibility:
The applicant company must: be a Canadian-owned and operated label/record company; be a Canadian-owned and operated management company; and be a Canadian-owned and operated FACTOR-recognized distribution company. Further eligibility requirements may apply.

Organization: SOCAN Foundation, The
Program: International Concert Music CD Promotion Program

Program description:
This program supports the distribution of recordings of music by Canadian classical music composers to broadcasters outside Canada in order to encourage radio performances. (Request CD Program criteria. Application is by letter.)

Program eligibility:
Any Canadian concert music recording entrepreneur (record companies, record producers or composers), with an acceptable distribution agreement, is eligible to apply for support. The final product must be a CD that is also distributed through other means (stores, mail order, etc.) in a quantity of at least 500. Further eligibility requirements may apply.
