Member, 2010 Legacies Now Board of Directors

Ken Dobell is on the Board of Directors for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and was previously a director for the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships.

Ken previously served as Vancouver's city manager, chief executive officer of the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority, and deputy minister to the Premier and cabinet secretary for the Office of the Premier.

Award-Winning

Ken is a recipient of the Lieutenant-Governor’s Medal for Excellence in Public Service, the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002), the Municipal Officers of BC Professional Award and the BC HMRA Award of Excellence.

Background

After graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science, Ken studied in England for three years where he completed a Master's of Science in Operations Research at the University of Birmingham.

Ken worked as a research engineer with the City of Vancouver until he was appointed deputy city manager in 1978. In 1990, he was appointed city manager; a position he held for eight years. Now retired, Ken serves as special advisor to the Premier and does contract work for the City of Vancouver.
