SportFit™ at the PNE
On August 19, 2006, the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) opened for its 96th year and SportFit™ was there getting people physically fit and active…and away from the deep-fried donuts.
Indeed, the tasty donuts are all part of the fun at the PNE. But this year physical fitness was on the agenda and that’s where SportFit jumped at the challenge.
SportFit™ featured an outdoor display with seven testing stations: basketball throw, vertical jump, stork stand, t-drill, curl ups, 30 metre sprint and trunk flexion. Each testing station inspired students to find activities that match their personal preferences so they may enjoy the benefits of lifelong physical activity.
To help promote SportFit™, Honourable Stan Hagen, Minster of Tourism, Sport and the Arts and Honourable Gordon Hogg, Minister of State for ActNow BC participated in the challenges on opening day.
CTV was on hand to interview SportFit™ participants.
