Valentino Castellani
President of the Torino 2006 Organizing Committee
Valentino Castellani was the President of the Torino 2006 Organizing Committee for the 2006 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy. Prior to working full time as President of TOROC, he served for two terms as Mayor of Torino until June 2001.
Valentino was born in Varmo in the province of Udine. He graduated from the Torino Polytechnic in Electronic Engineering in 1963. In 1965 he earned a Masters Degree at MIT in Boston. In 1970, Valentino was appointed Professor of the Torino Polytechnic and later became Director of the Electronic Department.
For ten years, he served as Chairman of CSI. Today, CSI is one of Italy's major information technology companies. Valentino is author of approximately 70 scientific publications.
