Hosting BC™
Hosting BC™ provides BC communities with funding to host national and international sport events.
Hosting BC is funded through a partnership of the Province of British Columbia (through the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport), 2010 Legacies Now and the City of Vancouver. These partners are committed to building BC’s reputation as a premier sport event destination and maximizing sport hosting opportunities leading up to, and beyond the 2010 Winter Games.
Hosting BC funds organizations throughout the province holding events at the junior, senior and university levels. Since its launch in 2004, Hosting BC has invested just over $2 million in 33 communities to host 145 events. This year, events receiving Hosting BC grants include Canadian championships, World Cups and Olympic Games qualifying tournaments.
From the world-class triathlons in Kelowna to national wheelchair basketball tournaments in Coquitlam, Hosting BC is helping communities bring sport events home.

Hosting BC grants
Hosting BC grants, ranging from $5,000 to $50,000, can be used toward bidding, securing and hosting single-sport events. Events eligible for Hosting BC grants include:
- World Championship, World Cup and other international level events for senior and junior Olympic and Paralympic winter sports
- World Championship, World Cup and other international level events for senior summer sports
- Senior and junior national and Nor Am events for Olympic and Paralympic winter sports
- Senior national and Nor Am events for summer sports
- Canadian Inter-university Sport or Canadian Colleges Athletic Association sanctioned National Championships held in BC
- Bids for senior and junior World Championship and World Cup sports
Applying for Hosting BC grants
There are two annual intake periods with application deadlines of March 1st and September 1st. Updated program guidelines and application forms will be available online a minimum of 60 days prior to these deadlines.
The Hosting BC brand
Hosting BC has its own logo, design and brand, which allows 2010 Legacies Now to support events alongside sponsors who may be outside the Olympic and Paralympic family without infringing on pre-arranged sponsor and partner agreements.

Post-event Final Report
Hosting BC recipients are required to complete a Hosting BC Final Report within two months of the completion of the event. This must be done within 2 months to receive the balance of the awarded grant.
Hosting BC is funded by the Province of BC, 2010 Legacies Now and the City of Vancouver.
