20% Challenge
A healthy living challenge for BC residents
From 2004 to 2009, the 20% Challenge encouraged British Columbians to increase their physical activity by 20% by 2010.
Province sets target for activity level
In 2004, the Canadian Medical Association challenged Canadian provinces to increase physical activity by 10%. The Province of BC took up this challenge and doubled the target to increase physical activity in BC by 20% by 2010. Through programs such as the 20% Challenge, the Province supported communities that encouraged greater physical activity among their residents.
