  • 72 literacy task groups, 227 communities and more than 1,000 community partners across BC are participating in the Literacy Now Communities program, which guides task groups through a planning process to address local literacy needs.

  • The 2008 Spirit of 2010 Hockey Tournament involved close to 47,000 young hockey players in 98 communities across B.C.

  • In 2007, Game Plan BC supported 367 BC athletes in 16 Olympic and Paralympic winter sports with funding for coaching, cross-training and travel for competition.

  • In 2007, the BC Sport Participation Program distributed funding to 24 provincial and multi-sport organizations to increase participation in sport and recreation throughout B.C.

  • Through the Catalyst, Innovations and Creative Communities programs, 2010 Legacies Now has invested more than $3.3 million in 330 arts projects in 77 communities across B.C.

  • VolWeb.ca™ is currently hosting more than 5,000 volunteers and 1,200 organizations seeking volunteers for their events.

  • Close to 200,000 people have visited the 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour and Express, presented by Bell and the Province of British Columbia, since 2005.

  • Hosting BC™ has invested over $2 million in 33 communities to host 145 national and international sport events since 2004.

  • The RBC 2010 Legacies Now Speaker Series has hosted eight international Olympic and Paralympic Games experts in communities throughout B.C.

  • More than 50,000 children and youth have participated in SportFit™, discovering healthy, active lifestyles and new sports.

  • More than 90 communities are involved in the Measuring Up process to improve accessibility for people with disabilities and seniors.

  • Growing Champions™, a partnership with Sport BC, PacificSport, BC Athlete Voice and the Province of BC, is matching over 300 high-performance athletes with businesses providing financial support.

  • The Aboriginal Youth Sport Legacy Fund, which is administered by 2010 Legacies Now, has awarded $1,000 grants to 43 Aboriginal communities and organizations to assist with the purchase of new sports equipment and to offer sport and recreation programs for youth.

  • To date, Arts Partners in Creative Development has invested $2.7 million in 32 BC arts and cultural projects.
