2010 LEGACIES NOW CONNECTING COMMUNITIES TOUR TO INSPIRE BRITISH COLUMBIANS LEADING UP TO 2010
Vancouver, B.C. (September 15, 2005): The 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour, presented by Bell, is traveling to nine communities this fall to share the spirit of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games with British Columbians across the province.
“The Connecting Communities Tour will help capture the imagination of our youth and inspire citizens from all over BC to learn more about how to develop legacies leading up to and beyond 2010,” said Marion Lay, President and CEO, 2010 Legacies Now. “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Bell Canada and the Province of British Columbia to inspire communities and assist them in creating unique opportunities in the areas of sport and recreation, arts and culture, literacy and volunteerism.”
As a presenting sponsor, Bell Canada is contributing $1 million to support the 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour. Over the next four years, plans are to take the tour to dozens of communities across British Columbia.

“The Tour will touch thousands of British Columbians in dozens of BC communities prior to 2010,” said the Honourable Olga Ilich, Minister of Tourism, Sport and the Arts. “We look forward to working with 2010 Legacies Now on programs liike this to convey community benefits as a result of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.”
The Tour, a 2,400 square-foot display, features informative panels and interactive activities such as a hockey shoot, ski simulator, and children’s art centre. Visitors to the Tour can also send a good luck message to Canada’s athletes competing in Torino, connect to business opportunities through the 2010 Commerce Centre, and sign-up for volunteer opportunities in their community.
Following West Vancouver, the Tour will travel to Prince George, Nelson, Cranbrook, Kelowna, Vernon, Victoria, and Burnaby.
