2ND ANNUAL 2010 LEGACIES NOW CONNECTING COMMUNITIES TOUR TO INSPIRE BRITISH COLUMBIANS TOWARDS 2010 AND BEYOND

Vancouver, B.C. (August 31, 2006): After the success of last year’s inaugural tour, the 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour, presented by Bell Canada and the Province of BC, will be traveling to ten communities this fall to once again share the spirit of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games with British Columbians across the province. 

“2010 Legacies Now is actively working to ensure every region in B.C. will benefit from the legacies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games,” said Bruce Dewar, Chief Executive Officer, 2010 Legacies Now. “By partnering with Bell Canada and the Province of B.C. on the Connecting Communities Tour, we want everyone in British Columbia to be excited about and connect with the opportunities being generated by the 2010 Winter Games.” 

As a presenting sponsor, Bell Canada is contributing $1 million to support the 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour. Bell is also honoured to help connect all Canadians to the 2010 Winter Games experience as Premier National Partner of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Stan Hagen, Minister of Tourism, Sport and the Arts. “The 2010 Legacies Now Connecting Communities Tour is one of those ways we are assisting communities create lasting legacies for all British Columbians to enjoy for generations to come.”  

The Tour, a 2,000 square-foot display, features informative panels and interactive activities. Visitors can test their winter sport skills at the hockey shoot and ski simulator, sign-up for volunteer opportunities through VolWeb.ca™ and showcase artistic talent at the children’s activity centre. Learn about ways to connect to sport with Bell technology as well as Canadian winter sport history.  

Following Richmond, the Tour will travel to Courtenay, Whistler, Prince George, Terrace, Fort St. John, Kamloops, Penticton, Cranbrook and Abbotsford. The display will be open to the public from Thursday through to Sunday in each community. For a complete list of dates, please visit www.2010LegaciesNow.com.
